Bailey and Flood Geobiology Lab

Welcome!

Welcome to the Jake Bailey and Beverly Flood Research Group

Our broad interest is to better understand the chemical and physical interaction of the biosphere and geosphere, as well as to investigate the physiology and ecology of novel microbes. Much of our research is focused on sulfur-oxidizing lithotrophs, symbioses, and polyphosphate. Our current primary organisms of interest are the world's largest bacteria, Thiomargarita sp and the bacteria that live in association with it.

Our lab is committed to establishing an environment where everyone can feel safe, welcome, and supported.
